<p>Despite the entertainment industry glamourizing hypnosis you should understand that it can be a serious wellness tool.  A brain surgeon in Houston, TX performed brain surgery on a patient who was allergic to the anesthetic used which allowed a patient to be awake during the procedure.  Because of the allergy the patient worked with a hypnotist and the operation was done with hypnosis as the sole anesthesia.</p>


<p>For most people hypnosis works by releasing a subconscious motivation to feel or act in a way that is contrary to what the conscious desires.  Simply put, when in a relaxed hypnotic state the subconscious is more open to positive suggestions.</p>


<p>This of the conscious as an adult and the subconscious as a child.  When the child is full of energy it is less apt to comply with the adult who is telling it something it doesn&#8217;t agree with or doesn&#8217;t want to do.  But when the child is tired and sleepy it&#8217;s much more complaint to the adults helpful suggestions.</p>


<p>In this way a hypnosis session is like a guided meditation and in the hands of a qualified hypnotist a fear or otherwise lifetime habit or behavior can disappear in a heartbeat.  </p>
